APPEARANCE

Theme + visual intensity. Applies instantly and persists locally.

Accent intensity

Strength of accent emphasis.

1.00

Glow intensity

Panel/scene bloom. Lower for long sessions.

1.00

Panel opacity

Glass panel translucency.

0.72

Grid intensity

Perspective grid brightness.

0.50

EXPERIENCE MODE

Presets patch a coherent group of settings (theme, density, budgets).

RENDERING

Scene render budgets, overlays, and WebGL quality.

WebGL quality

Higher quality raises pixel ratio + antialiasing.

Object render budget

Max catalog objects drawn per scale (LOD hides the rest).

260

Label budget

Max non-priority labels shown in the scene.

Orbit lines

Distance rings

Symbolic markers

Objects with symbolic direction (real distance, symbolic bearing).

Favorite halos

Reduced effects

Lowers glow + blur for comfort/performance.

Real sky backdrop

Bright stars at true J2000 RA/Dec, colour by spectral class. 0 hides them.

Constellation lines

Faint figures between real bright stars (BALANCED quality and up).

Constellation intensity

Particle field

Sparse dust/plasma particulate; density scales with the active scale domain.

Particle intensity

Cosmic web filaments

Connect large-scale structures in the cosmic-web view.

Nebula dust

Faint nebular gas at stellar scales and beyond (HIGH/ULTRA).

Solar wind

Faint radial particle outflow from the Sun at planetary scale.

Planet atmospheres

Fresnel atmosphere rim-glow on planets/moons (stars keep their corona).

Bloom

Selective glow on stars/emissive markers. HIGH/ULTRA quality only; off under reduced-glow/high-contrast.

CATALOG

501 objects · 478 placed · 23 unplaced (explorable in Atlas).

Default scale domain

Scale the cockpit opens at.

Include unplaced in Atlas

Show objects without a usable distance.

Atlas max columns

Caps the card grid so cards keep enough width.

Favorites always visible

Favorites bypass the render budget.

Enrichment warnings

Flag objects needing official-source data.

DATA

Ingestion + sources. The NASA key stays server-side and is never exposed.

NASA API key

Configured via server env (.env.local). Never sent to the browser.

server-managed

Ingestion mode

Manual + mock by default; NASA live on demand.

manual + live

Live sources

Trigger NASA NeoWs / APOD / DONKI from the cockpit.

open data sources →

ACCESSIBILITY

Motion, contrast, and focus aids. Honors your OS reduced-motion too.

Reduced motion

Stops camera drift, starfield, and transitions.

Motion intensity

High contrast

Solid panels, stronger borders, max contrast text.

Larger labels

Increases HUD + scene label size.

Typography density

Keyboard hints

Show shortcut hints in panels.

Focus outline strength

DEVELOPER

Diagnostics + debug overlays.

Debug counters

Show the catalog counter breakdown in the HUD.

Performance panel

Show the FPS / frame-time monitor by default.

Placement confidence

Dim low-confidence symbolic placements in the scene.
